Each of the 4-Arm PEG-Amine has an amino group attached to a pentaerythritol core at the end of each arm. It is a multi-armed PEG derivative. It has many reactive primary amine groups and can be used to prepare hydrogel or modify proteins, peptides and other materials by its functional groups. The amino group can rapidly react with activated carboxylic acid such as NHS ester to form stable amide bonds. 4-Arm PEG-Amine has a total molecular weight that is the sum of the molecular weights of all the arms. PEGylation can increase solubility and stability and reduce immunogenicity of peptides and proteins. It can also suppress the non-specific binding of charged molecules to the modified surfaces.
