HO-PEG-NH2 is a linear heterofunctional PEG derivative with one hydroxyl group and one amine group. It is a useful reagent for cross-linking with PEG spacers. Typically, it is provided in the form of hydrochloric acid or TFA salt. Primary amines are prone to react with NHS esters, carboxylic acids and many other functional groups. Reactions between amines and other groups allow the biotin to quickly attach to the surface of the target molecule or material. HO-PEG-NH2 can be used to modify proteins, peptides and other materials via amino groups. PEGylation can increase solubility and stability and reduce immunogenicity of peptides and proteins. It can also suppress the non-specific binding of charged molecules to the modified surfaces.
