FITC PEG
Fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) is a fluorescent dye, and FITC PEG is made by combining PEG with it. Combining FITC and PEG usually involves reacting a reactive functional group (such as an amino group) on the PEG chain with the isothiocyanate group of FITC. BOC Sciences offers a wide range of functional groups to modify FITC PEG, including amino, carboxyl, biotin, and more. By modifying and functionalizing PEG, we can also customize FITC PEG products.

Examples of FITC PEG
- FITC-PEG-SH. FETC-PEG-SH is a linear xenobiotic functional PEG reagent with a fluorescein dye and sulfhydryl groups at each end of the molecular chain.
- FITC-PEG-Biotin. FITC-PEG-Biotin is a linear xenobiotic reagent with a fluorescein dye and biotin moiety on both ends. Among them, biotin can be easily detected by biotin/streptavidin binding assay and is widely used for molecular target detection.
- DSPE-PEG-FITC. The DSPE-PEG-FITC molecule contains DSPE phospholipids as well as fluorescein FITC dyes on both ends. These materials can be used for targeted drug delivery by modifying their surfaces with targeting ligands. They are also labeled with fluorescein, which emits green fluorescence that can be easily detected by conventional fluorescent instruments.
Advantages of FITC PEG
- Anti-degradation: FITC PEG has high resistance to degradation and photobleaching, ensuring that fluorescent properties are reliably maintained over a long period of time.
- Reduced Immune Response: The presence of PEG reduces the recognition of FITC molecules by the immune system, decreasing the likelihood of an immune response and enhancing the biocompatibility of FITC PEG conjugates.
- Improve Pharmacokinetics: The hydrophilicity of PEG reduces the rate at which FITC PEG conjugates are cleared by the reticuloendothelial system, resulting in increased bioavailability and improved pharmacokinetic properties. This extended circulation time allows for better accumulation of the FITC PEG conjugate at the target site, improving therapeutic efficacy.
- Multifunctional Platform: FITC PEG serves as a multifunctional binding platform for a variety of molecules including antibodies, peptides, and nanoparticles, etc. The reactive functional groups on the PEG provide efficient and selective binding opportunities, allowing the development of multifunctional systems with customized properties and functionalities.
Applications of FITC PEG
- Bioimaging: In cells, tissues, or organisms, FITC PEG can be used to visualize specific targets by binding to their fluorescent properties.
- Biomaterial Surface Modification: FITC PEG conjugates may be used to minimize protein adsorption and cell adhesion by adding the conjugate to material surfaces.
- Protein and Antibody Labeling: FITC PEG can be used to label proteins and antibodies for immunoassays and biomolecular detection. Combining FITC PEG with proteins or antibodies allows for rapid and sensitive detection of the presence and quantification of target molecules by fluorescence detection methods.
- Molecular Sensors: FITC PEG have a wide range of applications in biomolecular analysis, cell signaling, and biosensing, since they bind to specific recognition molecules or signal transduction elements.
