Synonyms: Orthopyridyl disulfide-PEG-NHS
OPSS-PEG-NHS has one OPSS and one NHS ester at each end of the molecular chain and is a linear heterofunctional PEG reagent. It is a useful cross-linking reagent with PEG spacer. OPSS stands for o-pyridinyl disulfide or o-pyridinyl disulfide, which can react with thiol, SH, sulfhydryl to form a S-S bond. Through the pyridinyl disulfide functional group, OPSS-PEG-NHS can selectively react with the sulfhydryl group to form a stable disulfide bond and release a thiol pyridyl group at the same time. NHS is a good leaving group and can act with the amine containing part.
