DSPE-PEG-Biotin is a linear heterobifunctional PEG reagent consisting of DSPE phospholipids and Biotin at both ends of the molecular chain. It is a useful self-assembly reagent for the preparation of grafted or PEGylated liposomes or micelles, and also provides biotin groups bound to avidin or streptomavidin. It is commonly used in combination with lipid bilayers for targeted drug delivery to improve drug solubility, PEG provides stealth properties, prolongs circulating half-life and reduces non-specific protein binding or cell adhesion, and biotin groups are non-covalently binding targeted molecules, including antibodies, aptamers, proteins and peptides.
