Silane-PEG-SH is a linear bifunctional PEG reagent with one silane and one sulfhydryl group at each end of the molecular chain. It is a surface-active PEG derivative. Its sulfhydryl group can selectively react with maleimide and new metal surfaces including gold and silver. Meanwhile, Silane-PEG-SH can be used to modify glass, silica and other surfaces through the reaction between silane and hydroxyl groups. Polyethylene glycolization can greatly inhibit the non-specific binding of charged molecules to the modified surface. They have a wide range of applications in the development of medical devices, biologics or biocompatible materials.
