OPSS-PEG-NH2 has an ortho-pyridyl disulfide and an amine group at both ends of the chain, respectively. It is a thiol (-SH) group reactive PEG derivative that can be used to modify biomolecules or other materials by its available mercaptan groups. Through the pyridinyl disulfide functional group, OPSS-PEG-NH2 can selectively react with the sulfhydryl group to form a stable disulfide bond and release a thiol pyridyl group at the same time. Through this reaction, it can modify biomolecules or other materials. The PEG moiety in the heterobifunctional PEG derivatives provides water solubility, biocompatibility, and flexibility. The applications of heterofunctional PEGs are especially in the field of antibody drug conjugates.
