The ends of the VS-PEG-VS chain are functionalized by vinyl sulfone.It is a bifunctional PEG derivative. It can be used for mercapto polyethylene glycolization at high pH. The homologous bifunctional PEG derivative VS-PEG-VS, as a cross-linking agent, can be used in the PEGylation of proteins and peptides, nanoparticles and surface modification, and has a wide range of applications. Conjugation with the same bifunctional PEG ensures an increased drug load compared to PEG with linear PEG. Also, it can create a spatial barrier around the drug, reduce the enzymatic hydrolysis of the drug, avoid the rapid elimination of kidney, metabolism.
