COOH-PEG-(γ)PGA is a kind of copolymer with good biocompatibility. It is a solid or semisolid which depends on its molecular weight. The bigger the molecular weight, the more likely it is to be a solid. It is soluble in CHCl3 and DCM. COOH-PEG-(γ)PGA can be used to prepare drug-carrying microspheres, microcapsules, vesicles and micelles, which can realize the slow and controlled release of drugs. Polyglutamate polymerizes with methanine, a drug used to treat leukemia and tumors, and can improve the efficacy of the drugs. The carboxyl group can be activated by EDC or DCC to form stable amide bonds, and can also be esterified with hydroxyl groups.
