Synonyms: Methoxy-PEG-Azide; Methoxy polyethylene glycol-Azide
Methoxy polyethylene glycol azide (mPEG-Azide) can be used to modify proteins, peptides and biomedical materials. The azide functional group can quickly react with alkynyl groups through copper catalysis in aqueous solution, and it is also easy to reduce to amino; functionalized polyethylene glycol can also increase the solubility and stability of biomolecules, and inhibit non-specific binding of charged molecules from being modified surface. Depending on the molecular weight, methoxy polyethylene glycol azide is solid or viscous liquid; it can be dissolved in aqueous solutions and most organic solvents, and a fresh solution needs to be prepared before use. It is widely used in ligand research of active compounds, peptide synthesis carriers, polymer grafted compounds, PEG coatings of new materials, and modified functionalization.
