HO-PEG-NH-Boc is a linear heterobifunctional PEG derivative with one hydroxyl group and one Boc-protected amine. It is a useful crosslinking reagent with a PEG spacer. The protected amine can be regenerated under mild acidic conditions. The Boc group can be de-protected under acidic conditions to release free amines for further reaction. HO-PEG-NH-Boc can be used to modify proteins, peptides, and other materials by amino or other acid-reactive chemical groups. Polyethylene glycolation increases solubility and stability and reduces the immunogenicity of peptides and proteins. It also inhibits nonspecific binding of charged molecules to the modified surface.
