GAS-PEG-GAS is a linear molecule containing succinimide groups at both ends of the molecule, which is a PEG derivative. Between the PEG and the succinimide group, a C3 aliphatic amide exists. It can react with amine groups, and it is one type of NHS-PEG-NHS ester reagents. By reacting with drugs, it changes the dispersity and solubility of drug molecules in aqueous solutions. Also, it can create a spatial barrier around the drug, reduce the enzymatic hydrolysis of the drug, avoid the rapid elimination of kidney, metabolism, and allow the drug to be recognized by cells of the immune system.
