Methoxy polyethylene glycol-Succinamide Succinimidyl ester (mPEG-SAS) is a modifier with one end of the methoxy group and the other end of the succinic acid derivative. It is a white solid or viscous liquid whose form depends on its molecular weight. The smaller the molecule, the more likely it is to be a solid. It is soluble in most organic solvents and soluble in water. It acts as an MPEG -NHS ester reagent and there is a C2 aliphatic amide bond between PEG and NHS ester. In addition, SAS has a longer hydrolysis half-life and is therefore more stable in aqueous buffers than many other types of NHS esters. It is widely used in the modification of polyethylene glycol (PEG) in various biological nanomaterials.
