Synonyms: Methoxypoly(ethylene glycol)-PCL; Methoxy polyethylene glycol-PCL; Methoxy-PEG-PCL
The molecular chain of mPEG-PCL is terminated by methyl ether group, and the end of hydrophobic block is hydroxyl group. It is an amphiphilic AB diblock copolymer composed of hydrophilic block polyethylene glycol (PEG) or polyethylene oxide (PEO) and hydrophobic block polycaprolactone (PCL). mPEG-PCL is a biodegradable, biocompatible polyethylene glycolated copolymer of polyester chain segments. It can be used in the preparation of micelles or nanoparticles for drug encapsulation and delivery. The hydrolytic degradability of polyester blocks depends on the molecular weight and the spacer between the ester groups (lactide, glycoside, or caprolactone).
