PLGA-PEG-MAL is composed of hydrophilic block polyethylene glycol (PEG) and hydrophobic block poly-lactide-glycol copolymer (PLGA).It is a thiol group reactive amphiphilic AB diblock copolymer and biodegradable. PEG is the hydrophilic part and PLGA is the hydrophobic part. PEG polymers are terminated by methyl ether groups, and hydrophobic blocks are terminated by hydroxyl groups. Polyethylene glycolated copolymers with biodegradable and biocompatible polyester chain segments can be used to prepare core-shell micelles, nanoparticles and microspheres. MAL can self-assemble into PLGA core/PEG shell polymer micelles. The maleimides on the surface of micelles can bind to peptides, antibodies, proteins, etc., which contain mercaptan groups on the surface.
