PLGA-PEG-PLGA is composed of polylactic acid glycolic acid copolymer and polyethylene glycol. It is an amphiphilic block copolymer. PLGA-PEG-PLGA can be used to prepare hot cementitious materials with biodegradable blocks. A biodegradable delivery system that forms a hot gel has two main advantages: 1) First, the thermal gelation allows delivery over a period of time after the introduction of a period originally as a liquid; 2) Once lactic and glycolic acid blocks and water-soluble PEG blocks are no longer needed, the material is biodegradable safely, while water-soluble PEG with a molecular weight of less than 20kDa can be safely removed from the body via the kidneys.
