Cholesterol-PEG-MAL is a kind of PEG conjugate of lipophilic lipid containing cholesterol and conjugated maleimide at both ends of the molecular chain. It has good water solubility. Cholesterol can regulate the fluidity of phospholipid bilayer and reduce membrane permeability and drug leakage. It also has a protective effect on the oxidation of phospholipids. Cholesterol-PEG-MAL can be used for the manufacture of liposomes to shorten the cycle time of encapsulated drugs, as well as for non-viral transfection reagents. The maleimide groups on the surface of the nanoparticles can react with the part containing mercaptan.
