Four-Arm polyethylene glycol-Hydrazide (4-Arm PEG-Hydrazide) is a multi arm peg derivative, which has Hydrazide groups at each end of the four arms connected to a core. It is a white solid or sticky liquid, depending on its molecular weight. It is soluble in warm water, CHCl3, DMSO. Hydrazine-functionalized polyethylene glycol is an active polyethylene glycol derivative, which can modify proteins, polypeptides and other materials by carboxyl group (-COOH) or other amine active chemical groups. It also reacts quickly with carbohydrate residues. PEG modification can increase the solubility and stability of the peptide and protein, and decrease the immunogenicity. It also inhibits nonspecific binding of charged molecules to the modified surface. Therefore, it is widely used in the modification of protein drugs.
