mPEG-Plys is a biodegradable polymer organic compound formed by coupling of polyethylene glycol and polylysine. Plys is rich in cations and has good membrane permeability. Polylysine is an FDA approved natural homopolymer, which has been demonstrated to possess a wide spectrum antimicrobial activity with lesser toxicity to the human system. Based on this property, Plys can be used as a carrier for certain drugs, so it is widely used in medical and pharmaceutical applications. PEG is a polyether compound derived from petroleum with many applications, When attached to a variety of protein drugs, polyethylene glycol slows the removal of proteins from the bloodstream.
