Methacrylate-PEG-Methacrylate is a linear difunctional cross-linked PEG reagent containing a Methacrylate group at each end of a molecular chain. It can be used for free radical polymerization or photopolymerization which is sensitive to ultraviolet light. Methacrylate- PEG-methacrylate can modify proteins, peptides, and other materials by means of acrylic groups at both ends of the molecular chain. PEGylation can increases solubility and stability and reduces the immunogenicity of peptides and proteins. At the same time, it can also be cross-linked to form a polymer network to prepare PEG hydrogel with good biocompatibility.
