Synonyms: Four-Arm polyethylene glycol-Epoxide; Four-Arm PEG-Epoxide
Four-Arm polyethylene glycol-Epoxide (4-Arm PEG-Epoxide) is a multi armed peg derivative, each end of the four arms connected to the pentaerythritol core is epoxide. It is usually a solid powder or particle, which needs to be protected by inert gas, frozen and dissolved in some organic reagents such as dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethylformamide. Terminal epoxides are often used in nucleophilic addition reactions to modify functional groups. Four arm polyethylene glycol derivatives have a variety of active groups that can be used to modify proteins, peptides and other materials through their functional groups. PEG can increase the solubility and stability of the drug, reducing the immunogenicity of peptides and proteins, and inhibit the non-specific binding of charged molecules on the modified surface. It can modify proteins, peptides and other small molecular materials.
