NPC-PEG-NPC is a linear homofunctional PEG reagent with reactive nitrophenyl carbonate (or NPC groups) at both ends of the molecular chain. By means of NPC groups, it can quickly react with amines at pH 6.5 to 9.5 to modify protein, peptide or any other surfaces with available amino groups either on their lysine residue or N-terminus. NPC PEGs react readily with amine groups at a pH of from 6.5 to 9.5. Due to molecular weight differences, NPC-PEG-NPCs are usually off-white/white solid or viscous liquids. It is soluble in common aqueous solutions as well as most organic solvents and stored in a dry environment of -20°C.
