Synonyms: Biotin-polyethylene glycol-Biotin
Biotin-PEG-Biotin is a PEG derivative of a single molecular chain containing biotin at both ends of the molecular chain. Streptavidin and avidin bind to linear PEG with high affinity and specificity through stable amide junctions. Biotin-PEG-Biotin can be used for cross-linking PEG. It can be used on the surface of biotinylated biomolecules or other materials. The PEG attached to the biotin creates an extended spacer arm that allows the biotin to enter the binding pocket of the protein. Biotin can be easily detected by biotin/streptavidin binding assays and is widely used for molecular target detection.
