Silane-PEG-Silane is a linear bifunctional group PEG with two triethoxysilyl groups at both ends of a molecular chain. It can be used to modify glass, silica, silicone, proteins, and other materials with active groups through reactions between hydroxyl groups and triethoxysilane. PEG modification can increase solubility and stability, reduce the immunogenicity of polypeptides and proteins, and it can also inhibit the non-specific binding of charged molecules to modified surfaces. Silane-PEG-Silane is usually biocompatible, non-toxic and stable in both organic and aqueous solutions, making them widely used in biological applications as well as nanotechnology and materials research.
