Sulfhydryl-polyethylene glycol-succinimidyl glutaramide (HS-PEG-Succinimidyl glutaramide) is a multifunctional polyethylene glycol with a sulfhydryl group at one end and a succinimidyl glutaramide ester at the other end. It is usually a solid powder or particle, because the sulfhydryl group is sensitive to water and air, so it is often filled with inert gas, tighten the cap, and timely put into the refrigerator frozen layer for preservation. It can be used as heterobifunctional PEG derivatives to modify proteins, peptides and other substances by amino or other acid reactive chemical groups. Succinimidyl glutaramide is a kind of NHS active ester. Sulfhydryl group is widely used in the modification of gold nanoparticles or gold films. PEGylation can increase solubility and stability, and reduce immunogenicity of peptide and protein. It can also inhibit the nonspecific binding of charged molecules to the modified surface.
