Silane-PEG-NH2 is a linear heterofunctional PEG reagent with one silane and one amine at each end of the molecular chain. It is a cross-linking agent. Silane-PEG-NH2 can be used to modify glass, silica, and other surfaces through reactions between silanes and hydroxyl groups. Silane is moisture sensitive and needs to be stored away from moist air. The amine group can react with reactive acids, NHS esters or carbonyl groups. Polyethylene glycolization can greatly inhibit the non-specific binding of charged molecules to modified surfaces. They have a wide range of applications in the development of medical devices, biologics or biocompatible materials.
