Synonyms: Biotin-polyethylene glycol-silane
Biotin-PEG-silane is a linear heterobifunctional PEG reagent containing Biotin and Silane at both ends of the molecular chain. It is a crosslinked or biologically conjugated reagent with a PEG spacer group. Biotin can bind anti-biotin and antibiotin with high specificity and affinity. Silanes can be used to react with glass, silica, or other hydroxylated particle surfaces. Biotin-PEG-Silane is capable of attaching polyethylene glycol to Biotin labels on various glass or metal surfaces. The non-specific binding of charged molecules to the modified surface can be greatly inhibited by PEG. They have a wide range of applications in the development of medical devices, biofilms or biocompatible materials.
