The total molecular weight of 4-Arm PEG-Acid is the sum of the molecular weights of all the arms. Multi-armed PEG derivatives such as 4-Arm PEG-Acid are commonly used in drug delivery systems. The increased molecular weight of the modified drug is not easily eliminated by metabolism in the body.
