8-Arm PEG-SAA is a multiarm PEG derivative with carboxylic acid groups at each terminal of the eight arms connected to one hexaglycerol core. There is a C2-amide bond between PEG and the COOH group of succinamide acid. PEG acids can be used to react with amine groups by peptide coupling agents (e.g. NHS and DCC, EDC). 8-Arm PEG-SAA has branching or comb-like structures and is commonly used in drug delivery systems. The molecular weight of the modified drug increases and is not easily eliminated by metabolism in the body. In addition, the dispersion and solubility of the modified drugs in vivo were improved.
